About Nature-Friendly Tools
As unbridled development consumes more and more of
America's natural land, citizens and professionals are
searching for practical tools designed to incorporate
conservation strategies into local planning efforts.
Nature-FriendlyTools was designed to
meet this need. The Toolkit is a project of the
Consortium on Biodiversity and Land Use,
a partnership of Island
Press, Defenders
of Wildlife, Environmental
Law Institute, and NatureServe.
Through coordinated research, information development,
and outreach, the Consortium was established to help
inform and advance the integration of biodiversity protection
and land-use planning at the local, state, regional,
and national levels. The Consortium was established
with funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
